Your Skin Is In (IMPACT Melanoma): An award-winning program encouraging students (middle, high school, and college) to care for their skin and to love the skin they’re in year-round. Sun Protection Outreach Teaching by Students (SPOTS) is a community outreach program designed to teach students from preschool through high school about the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer. Medical students visit local schools to instruct students about sun safe habits, avoiding artificial tanning beds, and skin self-exams.
American Academy of Dermatology Association Shade Structure Grants awards grants of up to $8,000 to public schools and non-profit organizations for installing permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that are not protected from the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, or recreation spaces.
